Off the coast of Murudeshwar, this island has a rocky beach and is home to a wide variety of wildlife. The white bellied fish eagle, the indian mongoose, swifts and many other birds. The waters surrounding this island invite many species of sharks, inculding the worlds biggest fish - the whale shark, the bull shark and allegedly the reef shark too. The beautiful coral formation surrounding this rocky island makes it a dangerous yet beautiful spot for diving and snorkeling. The Indian Air force uses this Island for target practice. Some activists are currently fighting against this.

Caution: You cannot dock on the island as the shore is rocky and the strong waves make it impossible. Anchor the boat a few metres off the island and swim to the shore.
Also, watch out for unexploded bomb shells!!

Trek lightly - leave the place cleaner than you found it.

  • How do u get there from murudeshwar?
  • It is typical of India. Build the world's biggest naval port in an area of natural beauty - Karwar. Might is right. As usual the IAF are blind when coming to decide where they should have a target range set up. I am glad you guys are raising your voices against this practise.
