This structure, near the Vitthalaswami temple, appears like a gateway. But, going by the hook in the horizontal beam, this structure was thought of as a balance. The depiction of King and two queens near the base of the balance tells us that this was build during the reign of Sri Krishna Devaraya (1509 to 1529). Wrongly called "balance", it is in reality, a jhoolan or the structure of a swing. The hooks holding the swings can be clearly seen on the structure. In the days of the empire, the idols of Radha and Krishn were placed in the swing for the Holi and the Janmashtami festival.
