The Illinois Prairie Path begins here, on First Avenue two blocks south of Madison Street, and extends to the western suburb of Wheaton, branching from there to Aurora and Geneva. The path is a legacy of the old Chicago, Aurora, and Elgin electic railroad. A bridge is under construction to continue trail access east to the Forest Park CTA station.
