Historic Pengkalan Penambang

Until late 70s this site was called Pengkalan Penambang which means boat jetty. Boats that plied from Tendong on the other side of the river and Pendek on this side used this Pengkalan. Boat fare was 20Sen per trip across the river and it was fun to ride boat as we could dip our feet into the water on either side of the motorboat while it cruised across the river. The trip took less than 10 minutes to cross the circa 400 m river width. Nowadays people use the nearby bridge to cross this mighty river.
