Built on the site of the former mining town Gothic, RMBL is the site of the biological research of scientists from many different institutions. The lab itself has no institutional association and is supported mostly by grants and donations. Researchers are active mostly in the summer months, and the lab's peak capacity is 160 researchers, students, and staff. The lab was founded in 1928.
