Opened in September 1973, Champlain Heights has the distinction of being designed by one of Canada's foremost architects, Arthur Erickson, whose other works include Simon Fraser University, The Museum of Anthropology, and the Courthouse complex. One of the District's first open area and community schools, Champlain Heights possesses a unique design and open plan, highlighted by a centrally-located Library/Computer Lab situated under an impressive domed ceiling.

Six years ago (2002?), an eight room addition was built to replace the school portables. The design of the addition complements the original building and blends well with the adjoining forest.

Champlain Heights benefits from its association with the Champlain Heights Community Association. The on-site programs office offers after school hours and weekend sports and community eductation programs, as well as supporting the before and after school daycare and special events at the school. The cornerstone for life at Champlain Heights is our "Reach for the Heights" Code of Conduct emphasizing Respect, Empathy, Achievement, Cooperation and Helpfulness.
