The Manitou Springs Arcade. (Officially "Arcade Amusements, Inc.")
930 Manitou Avenue
Manitou Springs, CO 80829
(719)685-9815
Go back in time to the boardwalk. The arcade features modern video games but houses a working collection of Skeeball, horse racing, and nickel pinball machines.
For a nickel you can get an eyeful of Victorian leg in the penny arcade (I highly recommend dropping a dime into the "look inside the harem" game, especially if you're into poultry), or drop your quarters in the bazillions of high-tech video games. There's also an entire building devoted to skeeball, which, in my opinion, should be part of the 2004 Olympics. Top it all off with one of those hard-to-find black-and-white photo booths and a ride on Champion, the mechanical buckskin pony, and you have an action-packed afternoon.
History:
The Arcade began as a bingo hall operated by John W. "Bingo Jack" Kerns in what is now the Skeeball room in the 1930s. in 1952 Kerns began buying adjacent buildings and filling them with coin-operated games. The Skeeball machines were installed in 1962.
