Also known as Burns Ranch and Burns Town. This 1848-1850s era placer, gravel and lode gold mining camp was located along Burns Creek, southwest of Hornitos. The camp and creek were named after John & Robert Burns, 1847 era ranchers who had gold discovered on their lands in 1849.

  • This doesn't look like very much of a town. Other than the few houses to the southwest, i would say this is just a river/stream. Comments and replies welcome. :)
  • I have searched and searched, but i still can't even find anyone who recognizes this as a Ghost Town.
  • Thank you for your efforts.
  • I have been there and do not know if it is a ghost town but it was a living area for a large group of people.
  • Yes, you were there, but you were younger, and I didn't know how much you'd remember. Do you remember seeing the caved-in stone house walls?
  • In response to zykos: if this were a "camp" as described by Downstrike, then all that would have been there would have been temporary structures (tents, etc.), and not buildings. This would explain why there are no more remnants.
