The City of Kent Fire Department, led by Chief James Williams, is responsible for fire suppression and emergency medical services for the City of Kent. The City has contractual agreements with Franklin Township and Sugar Bush Knolls for these same services.

The Community Services Division of the Kent Fire Department is related to Fire Prevention programs, such as inspections, plan reviews and fire safety education.

The Technical Rescue Division deals with areas of technical rescue including high angle rope, water, ice, auto extrication and heavy rescue.

The City of Kent Fire Department participates in the Portage County Hazardous Materials Response Team.

The Confined Space Division is related to the City's confined space program, which is mandated by OSHA.
