Located in the village of East Milton, this tree-lined square is unique in that its located entirely above Interstate 93/US Route 1/MA Route 3 (the "Southeast Expressway"). It is bound by Granite Ave to the east, Boulevard St. to the south, Bryant Ave. to the west, and a ramp between Adams Rd. and Granite Ave. to the north. Adams Rd. cuts through the northern half of the square.

The square is historically significant as the later northern terminus of the Granite Railway, one of the first railroads built in the United States. Its purpose was to bring granite from quarries in Quincy to the Neponset River north of the square, which would then be ferried to Charlestown and the Bunker Hill Monument. There are relics of the railway, which would eventually end at the site (when it was part of the New York, New Haven & Hartford Railroad) before the construction of the Southeast Expressway.
