Quincy Quarries
Former rock quarry created in 1825 by Solomon Willard as a source of granite for the Bunker Hill Monument.
Following the quarries closure in 1963 they fill with water and attracted locals who would use the abandoned quarries for swimming, cliff diving and rock climbing. Over time, 13 people have lost their lives diving into the quarries. Eventually, in the 1990's dirt from Boston's "Big Dig" project was used to fill several of the quarries to make the area safer.

Today there are still a few water holes but the area is used for rock climbing and hiking.
