Originally the site of the Wesleyan Methodist Church erected in 1869, a new church was built in 1889 following the union of the Wesleyan Methodist Church with the Methodist Episcopal Church in 1884. Following a fire which completely destroyed the church the existing building designed by Chatham, Ontario architect, JL Wilson, was constructed.
Church membership rose to over 800 in 1925 with the merger of the Congregational Church, Presbyterian and Methodist Churches. A sunday school building was erected behind the church building in 1953.
