THE CAMPUS

Location & Establishment: Armed Forces Medical College is located at Dhaka Cantonment on the northern side of Airport Road, which is an island of scenic tranquility blended with natural beauty and bounty. The AFMC campus possess located at an area of about 13 acres of land opposite to Cantonment Railway Station and Hotel Radisson.

Affiliated Hospital/Institutions: A 500-beded Kurmitola General Hospital is adjacent to the college campus, where the students and interne doctors will get the necessary clinical training. At present, following hospitals and institutions are affiliated with AFMC for purpose of clinical training.
(a) Combined Military Hospital (CMH) Dhaka Cantonment
(b) Armed Forces Institute of Pathology (AFIP) Dhaka Cantonment In addition, for the purpose of understanding the suffering of humanity and their management, cadets are exposed to Government hospitals e.g Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), Shaheed Suhrawardi Medical College Hospital, etc.

Armed Forces Medical College and Hospital

The Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC) is a military medical college in Dhaka Cantonment, Dhaka, Bangladesh. It is run by the Military of Bangladesh and is under the Ministry of Defense of Bangladesh. A Major General of Bangladesh Army's Medical Corps is the Commandant of the College. It has two types of students. Medical Cadets (AFMC cadets) and Army Medical Corps Cadets (AMC cadets). AFMC cadets can become civilian doctors after completing the MBBS course but AMC cadets should join the Army Medical Corps (AMC) of Bangladesh Army .

The college is listed in the AVICENNA Directory for Medicine[1] (previously known as the WHO World Directory of Medical Schools)

The academic activities of Armed Forces Medical College commenced through induction of 56 medical cadets on 20 June 1999. The college is affiliated to Bangladesh University of Professionals and recognized by Bangladesh Medical & Dental Council (BMDC). So far 14 batches of total 995 students have been inducted. The students of the first 9 batches are now doctors and the 8th batch has completed their internship training in the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) Dhaka. Remaining batches are progressing as per the academic schedule. The admission is based on merit keeping in conformity with Government order published vide AFMC instruction -1/2003
