The Tiffin River (eastbound) and Indian Meadow (westbound) Service Plazas located at milepost 20.8 on the Ohio Turnpike were closed in January 2006 due to low business and aging facilities. Also, a lack of a municipal sewer/water system led to the plazas' downfall. There are plans to turn these abandoned plazas into new "truck stop-style" facilities. However, the Ohio Turnpike Commission eventually decided to construct new service plazas (which would be similar to the other reconstructed plazas on the Ohio Turnpike) at the same location, and the new facilities opened in June 2011.
