A small circular hill covered with pine trees. At the top was a octagonal pavilion. This was reached by paths between trees planted like a maze, cut with openings here and there. Legend has it that the Emperor always ascended this hill on horseback. From the top he had a view of the whole European enclosure, and the sight, in winter, of the pine trees covered in snow was said to be so beautiful that it became renowned all over the Empire. The criss-crossing paths gave the hill an appearance of having different layers and steps when observed from a distance.
