Erstwhile seat of a well-known zamindar family. Teota, today, is the largest Union in Manikganj (in terms of area), and one of the better known places in the district. The Teota Estate, comprising large landed properties in the present-day districts of Manikganj, Rajbari, Faridpur, Dhaka Savar and Nawabganj, Munshiganj, Pabna, Thakurgaon and Dinajpur, was among the large zamindaries of erstwhile 'East Bengal'. Teota was also among the few zamindar houses in the Dacca division to have received the honorific title of royalty (as a personal distinction). Eminent public personalities include Joy Sankar Choudhury, Raja Shyama Sankar Roy Bahadur, Roy Parbati Sankar Choudhury, Kumar Sankar Roy Choudhury, Kiran Sankar Roy and Kumud Sankar Roy (Dr K S Ray).

  • North-Weast of Teota ,there lies vast traces of char (Island) called Alokdia under the Union of Teota itself consisting of fertile land and was originally inhibited by mainly Hindus ,majority of whom have since been migrated to India due partition of their motherland and also river erosion.
  • Actually,Teota Rajbari (Zamindar Bari) is located on the northern side of Aricha Ghat and is about 3 Kms away from Aricha Ghat .Erroneously,Teota Zaminderbari has been shown on the southern side of Aricha Ghat in the marking.
