monastery, Order of Cistercians, Roman Catholic church

Boulaur Abbey is a monastery where lives a Catholic Community of Cistercian nuns. Its architecture is however not Cistercian type, but Fontevriste.
Boulaur Abbey was founded in 1142.
The monastery was restored in 1949 by nuns of the Cistercian order who live on a small farm whose products are processed and sold locally. The religious services in Gregorian chant punctuate their day of prayer, work and hospitality, according to the charism of the rule of St. Benedict.
