The town Hrob is located in the district of Teplice, in the foothills of the Ore Mountains. The village is about 2000 people population

The origin of the name Hrob is not accurately known, it means most likely ditch or pit, which penetrated the silver miners into the ore rocks. The Hrob since 1282 gradually was named Grape, Grab, Hrob, Clostergrob, Klostergrab, Hroby, and now Hrob.

The town was raised near the ancient trade route from Halle on Salle to Prague. Around the middle of the 15th century in the Hrob began silver mining and in 1594 was Hrob promoted to the Royal mining town.
In December 12,1617 was burnt in the Hrob and ruined Protestant church. Its burning (with the closure of the church in Broumov) served as a pretext to start the Protestant estates of the Czech nobility rebellion ( Bohemian Revolt) and thus caused the beginning of Thirty Years' War.
