Site of several heavily fortified Japanese artillery and gun positions guarding Munda Airfield from air, sea and land assault, this point was the last site of organized Japanese resistance during the New Georgia Campaign and eventually fell on August 4th, 1943 after the majority of remaining Japanese forces retreated North to Vila on Kolombangara.
