Bor is a town and municipality located in eastern Serbia, with one of the largest copper mines in Europe and it has been a mining centre since 1904, when a French company began operations there. It is the administrative center of the Bor District of Serbia.
Serbia has since sold the complex to A-Tec Industries AG, a Vienna-based company, which placed the highest bid for RTB Bor, Serbia's key copper mining and smelting complex, said a official with the state-run Privatization Agency.
A-Tec offered $466 million for RTB Bor, $126 million more than the $340 million starting price, Vladislav Zec, managing director of the Privatization Agency said by phone.
