Historic Federal-style house & museum dating to 1800. It was originally the home to Joseph Nourse, the first Register of the U.S. Treasury and also was Dolley Madison’s first stop while fleeing the British during the burning of Washington in 1814. Today it is owned by the National Society of the Colonial Dames of America. It houses fine 18th and 19th century American furniture and art.
