Historical town square with car park named after the saw mill that used to lie just within the city walls.
At present (Autumn 2015), preparatory work has already started on the Sawclose casino project and Bath and North East Somerset Council has closed its public car park.
Deeley Freed is building a casino, a hotel and two restaurants on the site.
The casino will be operated by French firm Groupe Partouche SA in partnership with Global Gaming Ventures Limited. The hotel will be operated by Z Hotels.
Several buildings will be demolished on Sawclose to make way for the new development, including the former clinic and weighbridge kiosk as well as a significant section of the Grade II listed Gala Bingo Hall.
Changes are also being proposed to the Grade II listed Market building. Gala Bingo and The Market bar have already closed in anticipation of the works starting.
A spokesman for Deeley Freed said the main construction will start at the end of the year and the hotel and casino are expected to open in the second half of 2017.
