The Torna fort stands at the height of 4606 ft and is the highest fort in Pune district. It is also known as Prachandagad due to its massive size. It is the first fort that Chatrapati Shivaji had captured at the age of 16 in the year 1646, paving the way for the great empire. The fort witnessed many battles that have been fought. The fort is truly grand, stretches for a couple of kilometres. Situated at the northwest of the fort, Bini Darwaja is the main entrance to the fort from Velhe side. Toranjaai Temple, Maal, Safeli Bastion, Lakkadkhana, Mengai Devi Temple, Kothi Darwaja, Hanuman Bastion, Budhala Machi, Jhunjaar Machi are the places to see on the fort. View from the top is breathtaking. Fort like Rajgad, Raigad, Lingana, Sinhgad, Durgadi, Kavlya etc can be seen from top.
