A complex of buildings including the Pleasure palace, containing the administrative services of commandant's office of the Kremlin and Federal Protective Service (FSO or ФСО) are located.
Originally these buildings included the Church of Our Lady's Glorification, which was removed early in the 19th century.
In 1920-1930th these buildings were the residential complex for families of the top management of the Communist party and the country (the Kremlin apartments). The complex also included some buildings containing a hospital, kindergarten, etc which were taken down in order to build the Palace of Congresses.
Here in the building of the Pleasure palace in 1932 N. Allilueva, Stalin's killed herself with a shot to the head after which Stalin moved to an apartment in the Senate building.
The residential complex was closed completely in the 1950s by order of Nikita S Khruschev.
Beginning in 2000 reconstruction of the building took place. Today although the building remains the Commandant's quarters, the church has been restored. Now slender, colorful blind drums with gold onion domes top the red-orange and white church.
