Thomas Walker travelled overland to Melbourne in Victoria not long after Batman and made his fortune in property on the new site. Walker owned 600 acres at Concord, and left 132 acres to endow a convalescent hospital. In the 1970's it became the Rivendell Adolescent Unit of Royal Prince Alfred Hospital. On the peninsular to the East is another Walker property, Yaralla. The Concord Hospital to the south is built on another part of the original property.
