Back in the '70s, a man by the name of Jay Gammons started building himself an Old West Town in the desert north of Pomerene (located north of Benson). It's not so much just the old west town -- there are a lot of those in Arizona. It's Jay himself and the enthusiasm in his stories that make this a really fun stop. Jay is the son of a man that served in the employ of John Wayne, and Jay himself can be seen as a child playing a small part in at least one John Wayne movie. Jay will tell you all about it. One visitor who now goes by the name of "Marvelous Marvin" has yet to leave. He got such a kick out of the place he decided to stay around and help old Jay out. Marvelous runs the Saloon on the right as you enter the town. You can't get drunk here, but you can get a refreshingly cold sasperilla.
