Country Club Mall was built in 1981 on the site of a reclaimed former strip mine and a golf course. When it opened, it contained a K-Mart, JC Penney's and Bon Ton. Sears opened about a year later, and K-Mart closed in the late 1990s and was replaced by a Wal Mart Supercenter in the 2000s.
