Holy Trinity Church

United Kingdom / England / Skipton / Mill Bridge
church, Medieval / Middle Ages, historical building, Grade I Listed (UK)

Holy Trinity Church is Skipton's Parish Church and sits at the north end (top) of the High Street. A church has stood on this site since the early 1100s. With help from the monks at Bolton Priory, the current church was built around 1300 before being extended in the late 1400s with a gift from King Richard III. Having been damaged during the Civil War, the church tower was restored by Lady Anne Clifford in the 1650s. Disproving the theory that lightening never strikes twice, Holy Trinity Church was damaged by lightening in 1853 and 1925.
