founded in Keur Moussa, Senegal, on 28 June 1961 by nine monks of the Order of St. Benedict from Solesmes, France. The buildings were inaugurated in 1963 in the presence of President of Senegal, Leopold Sedar Senghor.Le ground was donated by the Archbishop of Dakar. Of nine Benedictine monks in the original community has grown larger and now has forty members. It presents an international character. Indeed, two-thirds of them are of Senegalese nationality, September 2007, three Gabonais, two Cameroonians and two Guineans. On 30 January 1984, the monastery became an autonomous abbey of the Congregation of Solesmes.
The monks sell the products of their farm (goat cheese, broilers) and orchards (oranges, mandarins, grapefruit, mangoes, etc.)..
# The Benedictines also engaged in the manufacture of koras, (musical string instrument of Africa. It is a harp-lute Mandingo).
# From the monastery there is a clinic run by nuns (Servants of the Poor), and a primary school.
