The Pamban Bridge is a cantilever bridge on the Palk Strait connects Rameswaram on Pamban Island to mainland India. It refers to both the road bridge and the cantilever railway bridge, though primarily it means the latter. It was India's first sea bridge. It is the second longest sea bridge in India (after Bandra-Worli Sea Link) at a length of about 2.3 km

  • The Pamban Bridge is a wonderful Railway Bridge Built more than 90 Years ago during The British Era. There is a Provision to open up paqrt of the Railway Bridge When A Big Ship wants to Cross the Railway line. I had a Chance to Travel in the Train to Rameshwaram way back in Nov 1973 when we were in South India Tour as Students of Pune Engg College. Now a Motorable Bridge has also been Constructed During The Era of Late. Rajeev Gandhi.This New Bridge has Definitely given a Boost to Tourism.
  • The rail bridge has been made broadguage in August 2007.You can have boating in glass boats and see the sea bottom.

'சர்ச்சைக்குறிய அந்தப் 'பாலம்' ராமர் கட்டியதல்ல. அந்தக் கால அரபு முஸ்லிம்கள் தங்கள் வணிகப் பொருட்களை இந்தியாவிலிருந்து இலங்கைக்கு எடுத்துச் செல்ல கட்டிய பாலம். அதனால் இதை இடிக்காமல், ஒரு புராதன சின்னமாக அறிவித்து மத்திய அரசே அதை பாதுகாக்கும்' என்று ஒரு 'பிட்'டை போட்டுப் பாருங்கள். இது மட்டும் 'க்ளிக்' ஆயிடுச்சுன்னா, 'அந்தப் பாலத்தை இடித்தே தீர வேண்டும்' என்று போராட்டம் நடத்தி, அதற்காக உயிரையும் கொடுக்க உமாபாரதி, ராமகோபாலன், தொகாடியா, சு.சாமி எல்லாம் வரிசையில் நிற்பார்கள். என்ன நாஞ்சொல்றது?
  • I am less interested in whatever you wrote about Hindus and their views on "Ramar Paalam". In fact I am also of the opinion that all these issue is about something mythical. But I can not accept your veiw on Babri Masjid. Babri Masjid was built on a site of distroyed hindu temple by the ruthless invedors of Islamic belief and nothing of any historic importance. Wherever they went they distroyed the culture of that place and brought misery to the people who lived there and the generation that would follow. May I politely ask you that when you criticise or write any anti hindu view you better dont compare Islam (violence and suppressed living method)with Hinduism (independent and asthetic living).

  • Pamban Bridge; OLDEN; we crossed on old train and we stayed, one night, in 'GUEST-HOUSE', a room at Railway Station, during 1990's! How can we forget the famous temple; we enjoyed bathing with the help our 'Purohit'/ 'Pandit', about thirty-two times! How can Ram, Sita and Lakman, who came to this place, in olden time! I must pay thanks to our 'Purohit'.

  • The 2.3 km long 2-lane Pamban road bridge, named Indira Gandhi Setu, is the first sea bridge of India. It was opened in 1988. The railway bridge that adjoins it was opened in 1914 and is still in use. The 8-lane Bandra-Worli sea bridge, named Rajiv Gandhi Setu and inaugurated by Sonia Gandhi on 30-01-2009 is 5.6 km long and is the second sea bridge of the country.
