Considered one of the unremarked horseshoe curves in the West, the curve at James on the Union Pacific (former Western Pacific) crosses under Highway 70 twice. In the 1000 feet between those two points (via highway) the railroad gains 180 feet in elevation on a 1 percent grade, passing through 2410 ft. long Tunnel 4.
