Oliver Leo Beaudette built his Italianate mansion just blocks away from downtown Pontiac in 1905. His father founded the O.J. Beaudette Carriage Co. before the advent of the automobile. It was the first carriage company to constructcarriages using metal bodies. The company, under the younger Mr. Beaudette, was a major supplier of automobile bodies in the rapidly growing industry in Pontiac and Flint in the early 1900's
