Founded in 1750 and eventually named for Mexican President Vicente Guerrero. Briefly served as the capital of the Republic of Rio Grande in 1840. The original city was located north of here on the banks of the Rio Grande, and was moved to its current location after the building of the Falcon Dam flooded it. The city's population at the 2010 census was 4,312.
