Access: from Eizan line Demachiyanagi sta. in Kyoto, 29 min. to Kurama terminal, then take a free shuttle to the onsen, or walk 10 minutes through this small nice village.
Alternatively, from Kyoto station take Kyoto Bus No.17 - about 0-30 min. to Kurama Spa;
from Kitaoji sta. take Kyoto Bus No.32 - 35 min. to Kurama Spa;
taxi from Kyoto station is about 5,000 Yen and 35-45 min

The Indoor bath includes an ultrasonic wave bath, a sauna, an outdoor bath; there are also guest rooms (Japanese-style 8-tatami, 1 night with dinner and breakfast for 3 or more persons - 15,000 Yen per person, 1 or 2 persons - 17,000 Yen per person (13,000 Yen per child); Saturdays and days before holidays the price goes up for +3,000 Yen

Dinner (11:00-20:00) - price depends upon the course (Ushiwaka course is 7,000 Yen, Uguisu o-bento 3,200 Yen, Yuki set 4,500 Yen, Kama Rice set 1,500 Yen, ets.)

  • the outside onsen is definitely not worth neither the 1100 Yen admission nor the long travel to Kurama. I definitely preferred the Funaoka Onsen in Kyoto.
