This used to be a timber collection station on the River Chenab in the colonial days. Logging contractors in the jungles of Jammu used to transport logs to Punjab through river Chenab and Dhullaywali used to be the first collection spot. Western Railway had a large logging yard and a railway station for taking timber to various parts of the sub-continent especially various cities of Punjab. The railway line was used to bring heavy machinery for Marala Headworks constructed in 1960s. The Railway line lost its utility and was abandoned and local people slowly took away the line. There is still over 400 acres of land owned by Pakistan Railway which is given on lease for cultivation.

The part of Dhallaywali towards Headworks used to be called MUFT PURA because it was illegally constructed on Railway Land till Govt declared it a Kachi Abadi (Shanty Town) and allotted it properly to the residents.
