Shastriji Maharaj started this nobel institute with a purpose to reach out to poor students of Saurashtra and Gujarat. With tremendous efforts by Shatri Dharmajivandasji and his disciples & students, this institute has now reached to the world stage in a big way. Tens of thousands of it's students are serving the country and world community through the sound principles and characters built in the early age.

  • In ancient times, in India, Gurukuls were the centres for learning. The teachers at Gurukul were the great masters called Rishis. Students used to live with the masters (Guru). They used to learn principles, not by memorising them, but living them in real life. The educational system's focus was on development of the wisdom and not on an accumulation of information. The curriculum used to be based on the values. Because of that, students were becoming capable enough to achieve success in both material and spiritual spheres of life. Inspired by this ancient system of education, Sdg. Shastriji Maharaj Shree Dharmajivandasji Swami, the visionary saint envisioned re-establishing the system. In May 1948, the foundation stone of the Gurukul was laid in Rajkot. Gradually, the great vision manifested in reality as branches of the Rajkot Gurukul, at Junagadh, Ahmedabad, Surat & Hyderabad. All these Gurukuls became educational centres of excellence at national level. Inspired by the scintillating success of re-living of the ancient system, the disciple saints of Shastriji Maharaj envisioned a Gurukul at Chharodi as an educational centre of excellence of international level. This is the Swaminarayan Gurukul Vishwavidya Pratishthanam. In order to provide education of international standard an agreement of historic nature has been signed between the Chancellor of University of South Carolina Aiken, USA & President of Shree Swaminarayan Gurukul. This will build a bridge between the best of East and West. At Gurukul School, the student will learn the ancient time-tested values and most modern methods.
