  • Long before the Ropewalk development and the reclamation of main the car park (where the Ropewalk multistorey car park now stands), this smaller car park was used as a makeshift football (soccer) ground. You see, as there was more spaces for cars in the adjacent main car park, this car park was hardly ever used. The location was used as such because of the two car park height restriction barriers here that were the perfect dimensions of goal posts! The only peculiarity of playing here was that opposing teams had to play in an unorthodox curve due to both barriers being on the same side!
