Gustav Winter habilitó, en los años cuarenta, un aeródromo muy cerca de la Punta del Faro de Jandía, apisonando una pista de tierra de 800 metros de largo y 75 de ancho que iban a usar aviones militares españoles a finales de los cuarenta como aeródromo de socorro y para transportar cazadores y pescadores al servicio de Winter, gran aficionado a la caza y la pesca; los habitantes de Jandía recuerdan con cierta suspicacia el ir y venir de militares españoles en los años cuarenta.

  • La pista señalada en esta foto, en dirección Sur-Norte 18/36, se costruyó más tarde de los años 60 (no aparece en fotos anteriores a esa época) y es una pista diferente del llamado "Aeródromo Winter", por el ingeniero alemán Gustav Winter, que hizo construir esa pista más o menos 1 km más al Sur. El aeródromo Winter es ya apenas visible en fotos aéreas y tiene dirección 05/23, mientras que la pista señalada en la foto, y conocida como "Airstrip Puerto de la Cruz" aún en día hoy se usa, aunque por estar situada en un parque natural, el uso es muy restringido.

The Winter airfield is now barely visible in aerial photos and has direction 05/23, while the track indicated in the picture, and known as "Puerto de la Cruz Airstrip" day still used today, although being situated in a park naturally, the use is very restricted."
