San Quintin is a municipality in the landlocked province of Abra in the Philippines. It had a population of 5,233 people as registered in the 2010 Census.
Geo-Physical Profile
Location
San Quintin is Abra’s frontier in the west with rugged mountain ranges and hills serving as natural barriers to one’s entry to the province. It is bounded on the north by the entry of forest land of the municipality of Langiden; on the west and south by the forestland of the province of Ilocos Sur and on the east by the agricultural land of the Municipality of Pidigan. It is approximately located within 120.28 and 120.37 latitude and between 17.25 and 17.40 longitude. It is 24 kilometers to Narvacan, Ilocos Sur and 391 kilometers to Manila.
Land Area
San Quintin has a total land area of about 6658.7837 hectares more or less or 66.587 square kilometers according to the record of the Office of the Municipal Assessor of the town representing 1.67 percent of the land area of the Province of Abra.
It is politically subdivided into six (6) barangays with Barangay Palang occupying the largest area with 2,693.4421 hectares of 26.934 square kilometers accounting to 40.45 percent of the total land area of the municipality and least is Barangay Poblacion which is the only urban barangay with a total land area of 212.2422 hectares or 2.122 square kilometers or about 3.18 percent of the total land area, refer to Table No. 01
Topography
The Municipality of San Quintin is generally hilly and mountainous, which explains and determines its elevation. The highest point of the town is about 828 meters above sea level located at Barangay Tangadan along the mountain on its boundaries to the Province of Ilocos Sur, while the lowest, who normally located at along the Abra River bank and flat lands distributed unevenly across barangays is 100 meters.
Terrain
The terrain is generally rugged which is characterized by hills and mountains located from north to south accounting to three fourths ¾ of the total land area of the town. These areas are recommended and best suited for livestock grazing. The remaining percentage, which is best, suited for general agriculture, human settlements and others.
Slope
Barangay Poblacion, Labaan and portion of Villa Mercedes is characterized with nearly level or by broad area of level to nearly level lands with slope of 0-3 percent. The rest of the barangays are characterized as moderately undulating and rolling land sloping in many directions and steeply undulating and rolling land sloping in many directions, a combination of slopes 8-15 and 15-18 percent respectively.
Climate
The climate which is prevailing in San Quintin is similar to the entire province. It has wet and dry season. Dry season occurs from November to April and wet season with the rest of the year.
Occurrence of strong winds starts from the month of November and December. Typhoon usually occurs during the months of July to October.
Soil Type
The soil types found in the municipality includes Bouang, Clay loam and rough stony land.
Bouang clay loam are found in lowland and upland areas which are suitable for rice, tobacco, corn , vegetables, bananas and other fruit trees.
Rough stony soils are found in forestland's and idle lands which have a vegetation of shrubs and few grasses.
Surface Water and Drainage
San Quintin has numerous streams and river which serve as water drainage. The most prominent is the Abra River. These bodies of water serve as fishing grounds and sources of water for irrigation and other domestic purposes.

* The 62.5-m. long Tangadan Tunnel and its Horse Monument, in Brgy. Tangadan, welcomes dignitaries and other prominent visitors to the province. Located along the Abra-Ilocos Sur National Road, it can be reached via the Narvacan Junction (Km. 378) after cruising a winding 9-km. road cut through the hills bordering Abra and Ilocos Sur.
* The Tugot ni Angalo, in Kabaruyan Brgy. Labaan, is located on a riverbank between Barbarit and San Quintin. This curious depression on the land measures 15 m. long, 5 m. wide and 10 ft. deep and is said to be a giant footprint made by Angalo, a giant of folklore.
