Crocodile Hills (Simacolong)

Philippines / Central Visayas / Lazi / Simacolong
 hill, farm, invisible

A natural land formation in the image of a giant creeping crocodile, once a popular local landmark adored by the nearby townspeople. It is currently being and for over a decade now, aggressively strip mined for its highly rich limestone deposits. Flora and fauna, fishing waters, natural habitats and sustainable small agricultural farm around this area has been greatly compromised by this highly controversial mining operation. An environmental mess waiting to happen, in a few years, if ignored, left uncontrolled, with no proper conservation and recovery plans, eco-system surrounding this magnificent piece of land, will be destroyed and the "Crocodile" gone forever. - Limocon

  • Itis so frustrating that we risk the beauty of our planet for such mining operations. Tougher environmental laws need be implemented along with associative efforts of local governments of similar locales.
