These are the ruins of, believe it or not, a castle. John Brisben Walker, apparently quite the character, built this for presidents to stay in during the Summer months. It burnt down in 1918 due to lightning strike. The ruins are accessible from either trailhead in Mount Falcon park.

  • Correction: The summer home for the presidents was never built beyond a cornerstone and foundation and is actually located a little further along the trail leading off to the right. What actually appears here is the ruins of Walker's own home that was supposedly struck by lightning. The tallest part of the tower that still stands contains a second story fireplace.
