Originally opened as a branch of the Gimbels Department Store, designed c. 1955 by Lathrop Douglass with Kahn & Jacobs with interiors by the Raymond Loewy Corporation for Sol G. Atlas.

It later became a branch of Sterns which was in turn converted to Macy's.
