Sea lock for the Portsea Canal, part of the Portsmouth and Arundel Canal. One of the few parts of the Portsea Canal remaining.
The canal originally ran parallel and to the south of Locksway Road (where the tow paths are still visible), past the White House pub and up Goldsmith Avenue.
