Located on Main Street and originally called Johnson Hall, Gillespie Hall was constructed in 1894 and named to honor the institutes first President, William James Johnson. In the summers of 1994 and 1995, the hall underwent extensive renovation and remodeling with funds provided largely by Charles Gillespie, a friend.
The Hall houses around 130 female students in its two or three person rooms. All rooms are large and many students who live here their freshman year want to remain because of the spaciousness of the rooms. There are three full floors and an additional half floor on the back side of the building. Each floor contains adequate toilet and shower facilities for its occupants. A common lounge is available on the first floor.
