heritage, interesting place
Sunalta Station Place is a restored 1904 Edwardian heritage building which was built by Calgary pioneer Louis Weissgerber (interred in Calgary Union Cemetery). At the time of construction, Calgary had a population of approximately 6000 residents. The structure was originally located at the current site of the 41 storey First Canadian Centre. The building was moved to the present address by entrepreneur Oscar Lindquist in 1947. The historical research, acquisition and restoration of the building was financed and undertaken by the Philip Young family of Calgary from 1996 to 1999.
