The place where Varkey tharappel and his Family settled in 1950's. He came from kottayam. During that period a lot of families from middle kerala transferred to malabar to survive the existing famine in kerala and it is called 'Kudiyettam' in Malayalam. Majority of these people are farmers and their initial cultivation was tapioca plant(Kappa in Malayalam).
