The former Lazarev Barracks complex.

The quarters were designed to accommodate 6 thousand people, sailors, navy crews of the warships that were based in the South bay, Korabelnaya and other bays of Sevastopol.

Before the construction of quarters and the Admiralty the top of the hill was spaded and the construction ground leveled. The soil was used to fill the lake in the end of South bay, where the railway station is today.

The architect of the Lazarev quarters - Englishman in Russian service engineer Colonel John Upton.

In 2000, the barracks have been restored to accommodate a Sevastopol branch of Moscow State University.
