The stadium has a seating capacity of 16,000, making it the largest stadium in Azad Kashmir.
On 11 July 2008 Azad Jammu & Kashmir government handed over the Quaid-e-Azam Cricket Stadium to Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for holding national and international cricket matches in the stadium.
the construction of the stadium was one of the main achievements of the late Choudhary Mohammed Azam - Former Deputy Speaker Azad Jammu and Kashmir (1990–1991) also Former Chairman MDA (Mirpur Development Authority)(1991–1996)
