Jrarat (formerly, Gharkhun, Verin Karkhun, and Verkhniy Karkhun) is a town in the Armavir Province of Armenia. The town has a large poultry industry and nearby is land reserved for the cochineal dye beetles, Porphyrophora hamelii.
