Four lane bridge built in the mid-2000s across the Kennebec River to help relieve overcrowding on the two other bridges in Augusta, which are further to the south (Calumet and Memorial Bridges). It also provides a northern bypass of the urbanized section of the city and serves to extend Maine Route 3 to I-95 for the first time. It is most commonly called "The Third Bridge" locally. it offers a fine view to the south of downtown Augusta.
